The Knightly BlowThis page is dedicated to the times that Knights have used their power to call KNIGHT! and times that Magi of the Realms have called MAGE! For newer players, that might require some explanation. When the Knights of the Realms were created, they were given the ability to shrug off one killing blow per event by calling "KNIGHT!" This power was meant to be used in the defense of the Realms or in some similarly important situation. When the Knights of the Eternal Flame were created, they were given the ability to use this power once per year. Ideally, this power is rarely used, is never abused or used against other PCs, and can be an incredibly exciting moment to witness firsthand. When the Magi of the Realms were created, I and a number of other eventholders started allowing them to call "MAGE!" as their own unique power. The difference between KNIGHT! and MAGE! is that when a Magi of the Realms calls MAGE! they will never know what's going to happen. It isn't used to shrug off a killing blow, it's used to channel magical powers but those powers aren't theirs to control. Sometimes nothing happens, but often something good (and sometimes unexpected) will happen. These powers have been given to the KoR, KoEF and Magi of the Realms as a perk to both make the game more exciting and to reward those individuals for the hard work they have put into the game and into the community. They aren't currently recognized in the Omnibus, but I believe they are still commonly accepted at many events. Lists of times that KNIGHT and MAGE have been called are in development: KNIGHT calls, with links to stories MAGE calls, with links to stories If you have witnessed these moments - and especially if you have stories about them, please contact me and I'll include them here.
