Vinal is a highly skilled fighter in a variety of weapon styles. Trained by Lord Duncan, he quickly became one of Rhiassa's top shieldmen and was a big part of Rhiassa's success during Rhiassa's first military buildup.

When lined up with Lord Duncan, Sir Cedric, Da'oud and Dhugal, Vinal rounded out one of the toughest five man lines short of Folkestone's.

Lord Duncan has compared Vinal to Sir Lars of Chimeron, in terms of the sheer natural talent he posesses. With sufficient motivation and practice, he could easily join the top ranks of fighters in the Realms if that were something he wanted to try to do.
